Warren, Ohio - Mary "Nancy" Elizabeth Jennings, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the home of her daughter Judith Marie Sadler after a noble battle with bladder cancer. She was born on December 29, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Irish immigrants John Edward King and Mary (Harrington) King, both of whom predeceased her. On July 12, 1947 she married Patrick Jennings, a native of County Mayo, Ireland and they enjoyed 38 years of marriage prior to his death in 1985. They made their home in Warren, Ohio where they raised 13 children. Mary had the privilege of being a devoted homemaker. When her youngest child started school, Mary returned to work at Servomation and also actively engaged in labor union representation prior to her retirement.
Mary was a dedicated member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church but her spiritual refuge was our Lady of Lebanon National Shrine in North Jackson where she taught all of her children to bring their problems to the Blessed Mother.
She is survived by 12 children: Mary Catherine Meffe of Warren; Theresa Frances Thompson (Jack) of Apex, North Carolina; Michael Joseph Jennings (Mary Ann) of Perryville, Missouri.; Francis Thomas Jennings (Rosemary), of Warren; Robert Emmett Jennings (Wanda) of Warren; Edward Charles Jennings (Yorli) of Benbrook, Texas; Nora Elaine McCarty of Warren; Joseph James Jennings (Mary) of Warren; Elizabeth Ann Jarvis (Jim) of Wilmington, North Carolina; Judith Marie Sadler (Carl) of Johnston; Julia Marie Rogers (Arthur) of Warren; and Margaret Ann Jennings (Valentine Cleary) of Wilmington, North Carolina.
Mary was also a loving and devoted grandmother to Kevin Meffe (Stephanie), Michael Jennings (Christy), Tara Sandford (Stephen), Jack Thompson (Brittany), Erik Jennings (Molly), Jennifer Gordon (Kenneth), Molly Rogers, Trillian McCarty, Robert Knepper (Tiffany), Joseph Knepper (Ashley), Colleen Rubesich (Adam), Paige Jennings, Patrick Jennings, Camila Jennings, and Nicole Jennings. Mary was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren; and a twelfth is expected in October.
She is also deeply missed by her brother Michael King of Staten Island, New York and her sister Nora Healy of Brooklyn, New York.
Along with her husband who awaits her arrival in Heaven, she joins her eldest son Patrick John Jennings, her brothers Patrick and John King and her sister Teresa.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ohio Living Hospice.
