Mary Jane "Mazie" Dittmer, 87, of Warren, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born January 16, 1922 in Norwood, Ohio, the daughter of Mark and Elsie (Alison) Dayton.

Mrs. Dittmer graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in mathematics and worked for Second National Bank as an internal auditor, retiring in 1990. A member of First Presbyterian Church of Warren, where she had served both as a deacon and an elder, she enjoyed gardening, especially her herb garden, reading, and sewing.

Surviving are her children: Elizabeth Dittmer of San Diego, Calif., Mark Dittmer of Warren, with whom she made her home, and James Dittmer of Weehawken, N.J.; three grandchildren: Sarah Scott, and Rebecca and Leah Ozeroff; three great-grandchildren: Rachel, Abigail, and Leonard Scott; and a sister, Elsie Heeken of Cincinnati. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, David R. Dittmer, whom she married October 15, 1942 and who died January 6, 1967; a son, Richard Dayton Dittmer; and a sister, Eleanor.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Rusty Cowden officiating. Material contributions may be made either to the American Diabetes Association, 1815 W. Market St., Suite 108, Akron, Ohio 44313, or to First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren, Ohio 44483.
