Mary L. Boyer

Mary L. Boyer, 81, of Warren, died peacefully at home on her 63rd wedding anniversary, Friday, November 11, 2011. She was born December 15, 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Marie (McCaan) McLay, and had lived in Trumbull County during her adult life.

A graduate of East Cleveland (Ohio) High School, Mrs. Boyer was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Altar & Rosary Society. Lovingly known as a "professional volunteer" who gave of herself to others, she was active with the Ladies of Charity in Youngstown, the Pastoral Care departments at Trumbull Memorial and Hillside Rehabilitation hospitals, and the LPGA tournaments. She had also served as a Girl Scout leader, and was an avid doll collector.

Surviving are her husband, Lamont B. Boyer, Sr., whom she married November 11, 1948; five children: Marie L. (William) Millik of Florida, Lamont B. (Vivien) Boyer, Jr. of Lordstown, Joan L. Jastatt of Warren, Robert E. Boyer of Lake Milton, and Richard J. (Ellie) Boyer of Mantua; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Joseph McLay of South Carolina, and Charles McLay of Los Angeles, Calif. Preceding her in death are two brothers, Richard John and Jack McLay; and a son-in-law, John Jastatt.
