Martha R. Pogue

Martha R. Pogue, 94, formerly of Warren, died early Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Park Vista Retirement Center in Youngstown. She was born October 24, 1914 in Vandergrift, Pa., the daughter of Rev. Andrew J. and Myrtle (Beitel) Randles, and had lived in the Warren area since 1941.

A graduate of Monmouth College in Illinois, Mrs. Pogue was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Warren, where she was a member of the Kirk Club and a past president of the Women's Association. She had also belonged to the Fortnightly Study Club, the Book Club, the American Association of University Women, Pan-Hellenic, and was past-president of the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are three sons: William R. (Mary Anne) Pogue of Aurora, Attorney John L. (Marilyn) Pogue of Warren, and Thomas G. (Pamela) Pogue of Winston-Salem, N.C.; six grandchildren: Douglas H. (Lynne) Pogue, Rebecca Pogue, Allison (David) Casey, Jeffrey (Kathryn) Pogue, Bradley G. (Amber) Pogue, and Lauren (Aaron) Biek; and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Lawrence E. Pogue, whom she married January 18, 1941 and who died January 8, 2002; and two sisters, Janet Laxson and Elizabeth Randles.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church of Warren, with Rev. Alan Hutchison officiating. The family will receive friends at the church after the service. Inurnment in the First Presbyterian Columbarium will follow.
