Martha B. Alexander

Warren - Martha B. "Marty" Alexander, 87 of Warren, OH, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. She was born Sunday, January 1, 1922 in Cory, Pa., the daughter of the late Herman E. and Katherine E. (Glass) Burns.

Marty worked as Executive Secretary for her husband's company, Cleveland Power Equipment. She was a member of the Warren First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Joy Circle and the Home Builders Class. She was an avid golfer and belonged to the Chip-N-Putt League where she was awarded several trophies. She was an ardent bridge player but enjoyed taking care of her family and home the most.

Together with her husband, she shared the love of boating on Lake Erie and in Florida and participated in various community events in Warren and Florida, including Civic Music and the Kenley Players.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Richard L. Alexander of Warren, OH, whom she married November 28, 1942; son & daughter-in-law, Dennis (Nancy) Alexander of Warren, OH; two granddaughters, Kimberly (Michael) Antonelli, Jennifer (John) Metz; two grandsons, Jeffrey Alexander and Daniel Shaffer; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Perry " Ed" E. Byrnes, and a daughter, Judith Shaffer.

Services will be held at the Warren First United Methodist Church, Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Rick Oaks officiating. Calling hours are from 12:30-1:30 pm Saturday, in the church sanctuary. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Warren, OH.
