Marjorie J. Trumphour Rader, 94, formerly of Warren, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Blossom Hill Care Center in Huntsburg. She was born January 15, 1918 in Atwater, the daughter of Roy and Alice (Harrison) Whittlesey.
A graduate of Kent State High School and Kent State University,
Marjorie first taught in the Kent City Schools, and retired in 1977 from the Warren City Schools after 28 years of teaching Kindergarten at Horace Mann and McKinley Elementary Schools. A member of First United Methodist Church, where she was active with United Methodist Women and the Charity Circle, she also belonged to the Ohio Retired Teachers, the Trumbull County Retired Teachers, and AARP. She enjoyed swimming, sewing, baking, and her roses.
Surviving are three daughters: Mary (Stanley) Brown of Liberty, Ind., Jane (Tony) Valvoda of Chesterland, and Susan Crawford of Mount Bethel, Pa.; three stepsons; three stepdaughters; four grandchildren: Sarah (Devon) Lawler, Rachel Brown, Elizabeth Dietrich, and Cate (David) Lindsey; eleven great-grandchildren: Sophie and Eleanor Lawler, Jesse Brown, Blake, Alex, and Elise Hendrickson, Isabel Brown, Samantha and Amanda Mason, Eric Dietrich, and Adam Lindsey. Preceding her in death are her first husband, Roy Trumphour, whom she married April 5, 1947 and who died January 24, 1984; her second husband, Rev. Reuben Rader, whom she married March 24, 1989 and who died March 31, 1994; a sister, Ruth Adams; and a brother, Fred Whittlesey.
Services are 12:00 noon Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. James Bloom officiating. Her urn will be placed in the Crown Hill Burial Park mausoleum at a later date. Friends may call 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
