BERKELEY, Calif. - In the morning of Saturday, March 17, 2007, as the sun was burning through the fog over her north Berkeley neighborhood home, our sister Marjorie K. Bauman died.

Marji was born Marjorie Kathryn Bauman Oct. 14, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Margaret Virginia (Kreuzweizer) Bauman, R.N. and Edward Eugene Bauman, M.D.

She graduated from Warren G. Harding Senior High School in Warren, in 1965, St. Olaf College (Northfield, Minn.) in 1969 with a BSN, and in 1973, she graduated from the University of Colorado (Denver) with an MS degree.

Marjorie dedicated her career to helping patients as a staff nurse in Madison and Denver and while teaching in the nursing school program at St. Olaf College. She held progressively more responsible positions in management and administration in Denver, Seattle, Baltimore and the Bay Area, most notably at Johns Hopkins Medicine and as the CEO of Sutter VNA & Hospice in northern California.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents; her mother Margaret K. Bauman; a sister, Susan Bauman Krisher; and her nephews, Robert W. Krisher III and Chad E. Krisher.

She is survived by her father, Edward E. Bauman of Madison, Wis.; her brothers, George H. Bauman (Becky) of Madison, Wis., Allen E. Bauman (Lois) of Niles, Ohio, and her sister Carole Cook of Hubbard, Ohio; along with nieces, nephews, a stepdaughter and stepson, and numerous friends around the globe.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 20, at the University Lutheran Chapel, Berkeley, Calif.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 140 Cherry Ave. N.W., Warren.
