Marian V. Woodward, 93, of Howland, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born April 6, 1915 in Youngstown, the daughter of Lee and Clyde Amanda (Burnett) Van Metre, moving to Warren when she was young.
Mrs. Woodward was an active member of Central Christian Church for many years. She loved music and played the piano all her life. An avid bridge player, she enjoyed card games of all kinds. She also enjoyed her time at her cottage near Lake Erie.
Surviving are her daughters, Diane Woodward (Dr. Ralph E.) Snelson of Howland, and Susan W. (Terry) Roe of West Salem; a daughter-in-law, Judith W. (Ralph) Glosser of Cortland; six grandchildren: Dr. Marc E. (Suzanne) and Dr. Lee E. (Angela) Snelson, Jeffrey S. (Susan), Thomas Scott (Sharon), and Gregory S. (Sue) Woodward, and Steven D. (Christy) Roe; and ten great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Donald E. Woodward, whom she married January 19, 1935 and who died October 26, 1992; a son, Thomas Lee Woodward; her step-mother, Ruth Van Metre; two sisters, Margaret Shafer and Martha Hanson; and two brothers, Robert and Myron Van Metre.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2008 at Central Christian Church, with Rev. Caroline Bloomfield officiating. Friends may call 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., August 15, at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made either to Central Christian Church, 2051 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44483, or to Shepherd of the Valley, 4100 N. River Rd. N.E., Warren, Ohio 44484.
