Marian B. Filkorn

Marian B. Filkorn, 93, of Warren, died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Windsor House of Champion. She was born November 28, 1914 in Warren, the daughter of John N. and Lena (Brockett) Butler, and lived in the Warren area her entire life.

Mrs. Filkorn worked for ten years as a mounter at Ohio Lamp. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Altar & Rosary Society. She also belonged to Scope, Central Christian Church's Fifty-Plus Club, and two bowling leagues, Rainbow Senior Gals and Rainbow Senior Mixed. For more than twenty-five years, she served as a Republican judge at elections. She enjoyed the simple things such as walking, reading, and dining out.

Surviving is her niece and primary caregiver, Karen Filkorn of Champion, and other nieces and nephews around the country. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Louis J. Filkorn, whom she married January 14, 1941 and who died July 19, 1993; and a brother, John B. Butler.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2007 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Fr. Bernard Schmalzried of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Friends may call 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made either to the St. Mary's Restoration Fund, 232 Seneca N.E., Warren, Ohio 44481, or to Windsor House of Champion Activity Dept., 200 E. Glendola, Warren, Ohio 44483.
