Margaret J. Athya

Margaret June Athya, 78, of Warren, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born August 30, 1929 in Apollo, Pa., the daughter of Roy and Carrie Mae (Stewart) Sloan.

Mrs. Athya had been an active member of First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, and belonged to the church's bowling team. She enjoyed gardening and was involved in the Herb Society.

Surviving are her husband, John T. Athya, whom she married in 1953; two daughters, Lucinda June Athya of Silver Spring, Md., and Marjorie Walker of Warren; a sister, Martha Mae Miller of Apollo; and a brother, Donald Sloan of Apollo. Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother, William Everett Sloan.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Rusty Cowden officiating. Inurnment will take place in the church's columbarium. The family will meet with friends in the church's fellowship hall after the service. Material contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren, Ohio 44483.
