Marcia Wentzel Seitz, 57, of Hubbard, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 at home, after a short bout with cancer. She was born June 6, 1950 in Carlisle, Pa., the daughter of Alton and Arlene (Carns) Wentzel, Jr.
Mrs. Seitz was a 1968 graduate of Boiling Springs, Pa. High School and a 1972 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, with a B.A. in nutrition. Upon graduation, she worked for Stouffer Hotels & Resorts in Indianapolis, Louisville, and Pine Isle, Ga. Later, she served 20 years as the director of food and beverage at Avalon Inn & Resort. Most recently, she owned and operated R&R Gourmet Village and Deli in Howland until its closure December 31, 2007.
A supporter of Hubbard sports activities and the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission, she prepared the concessions and all the food and beverage activities for the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic from its inception until its departure from the Valley. Over the years, she received numerous awards for food preparation from the American Cancer Society, the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission, the Ohio Pork Producers Council, and Mahoning Valley Second Harvest. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Carlisle, Pa., and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Warren. For recreation, she enjoyed her Arabian horses, traveling, and gardening at her home.
Surviving are her husband, Daniel C. Seitz, whom she married September 4, 1982; her daughter, Alicia Danielle Seitz, currently attending Westminster College; her parents, Alton and Arlene Wentzel, Jr. of Carlisle, Pa.; a brother, Alton Wentzel III; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Zizzi; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Debbie and Jerry Groves; sister-in-law Carla Crumpton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law David Charles and Sandra Seitz; and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Warren, with Rev. Steve Ritter officiating. Friends may call 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will be Wednesday at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, family requests material contributions be made to any of the following: Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn.; First United Church of Christ, 30 N.
