Lorena Quinn

Lorena Belle Quinn formerly of North Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:18 a.m. in Gillette Nursing Home. She was 97.

Mrs. Quinn was born in Niles on February 8, 1919, to the late Roy M. and Alice M. Gill Williams.

She was a 1936 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. Following high school Lorena matriculated to Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing where she obtained her certification as a Registered Nurse.

Lorena was employed at various hospitals throughout the Mahoning Valley and San Diego as a Registered Nurse. Later in life she was the owner and operator along side her husband at the family business Quinn's Champion and North Bloomfield Valu-King as well as the Quinn's Bristol and Johnston Mini-mart Stores.

She was a member of North Bloomfield United Methodist Church. As an RN she enjoyed helping people throughout her community. Lorena was also an active mother, participating in Cub Scouts. Lorena and her family traveled from coast to coast numerous times through out her life; in addition she extensively traveled abroad. Her grandchildren will cherish the memory of Lorena traveling with each grandchild to a different country. She was a member of Zoological Society of San Diego, Retired Nurses Association, and Past President of the North Bloomfield Cemetery Association.

Her husband, Michael J. Quinn, whom she married May 2, 1942, passed away August 19, 1983.

She is survived by 2 sons, Timothy M. (Debra) Quinn of North Bloomfield and Anthony J. (Barbara) Quinn of Farmdale; 5 grandchildren, Kyle, Erin, Megan, Keelan, and Jennifer; 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lorena was preceded in death by a brother, Roy B. Williams; a granddaughter, Julie A. Quinn; 2 great grandchildren.

Out of respect for Lorena's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at North BloomfieldCemetery with Rev. Mark A. Thomas.
