Lillian E. Steinmetz, 86, of Warren, died 7:45 AM Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Horizon Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 27, 1919 in Warren, the daughter of John and Sanna Berg Weita, and had lived in the Warren area her entire life.

Lillian had been a homemaker and an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening, music, needlework, reading, and going to her summer home at Lake Erie. She was proud of her family and her Finnish heritage.

She will be sadly missed by her three children: Dale H. (Marilyn) Steinmetz II of Keihi, Hawaii, Karen S. (William) Whiting of Ashtabula, and Thomas J. Steinmetz of Warren; four grandchildren: Raegina Steinmetz of Phoenix, Ariz., Stephanie Steinmetz of Rocky River, Ohio, Susan (Russell) Hardin of Howland and Barbara (Robert) Michael of Cortland; and eight great-grandchildren: William P., Lauren, and Jason Whiting, Shaun and Rachel Hardin, and Cassandra, Nicholas, and Matthew Michael. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Dale H. Steinmetz, whom she married November 24, 1938 and who died May 24, 1974; a grandson, William D. Whiting; six sisters: Emily, Matilda, Pearl, Lina, Hilda, Helen; and four brothers: Henry, Arthur, Walter, and Albert.

Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 5, 2006 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Wayne L. Sherman officiating. Interment at Crown Hill Burial Park will follow. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday and 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 571 Parkman Rd. S.W., Warren, Ohio 44485.
