Lillian Elsie (Rowlands) O'Brien

Lillian Elsie O’Brien of Niles, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:40 a.m. in Shepherd of the Valley, Niles. She was 99.

Lillian was born in Warren on December 26, 1917, the daughter of the late John and Lily Wallace Rowlands. Mrs. O’Brien was the oldest of six children.

She was a 1935 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. Mrs. O’Brien was employed in the office for many years at Arden’s Furniture Store.

Mrs. O’Brien was a member of 1st Christian Church where she was involved in the Women’s Circle, taught Sunday School, and was the Deaconess of the church.

Her husband, Thomas J. O’Brien, whom she married June 7, 1941 passed away in February of 1983.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Paul) Porcase of Newton Falls, OH; 3 grandsons, Jeffrey (Tina) Porcase of Garrettsville, OH, Paul Porcase of Warren, and Michael (Angela) O’Brien of Kingswood, TX; a daughter-in-law, Anne O’Brien of Katy, TX; 6 great grandchildren, Nattalie, Justin, Brooke, Blake, Brianna, and Lilly; numerous nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Joyce Rowlands of Warren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by a son, David O’Brien; 5 siblings.

Lillian spent the last eight months of her life Shepherd of Valley and wishes to say good bye to all the kind and helpful people there.
