Lena Shipman

WARREN - Lena Shipman, 89, formerly of West Mecca, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at Community Skilled Nursing Centre after a long illness. She was born on December 23, 1924 in Champion, the daughter of the late John and Maria (Arva) Muresan.

Lena was a graduate of Champion High School. She was a member of Wildare United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and touched many hearts with the Bible Club in her home and church. She had worked at Packard Electric, a child care provider, a poll worker on Election Day, a 4-H advisor and a homemaker. Lena enjoyed gardening, flowers, and spending time with family and friends.

On June 7, 1947 she married Eugene "Gene" Shipman, who preceded in death on October 31, 2011. To this union is survived her 3 daughters, Nancy (Ray) McClintock of Warren, Linda Shipman of West Mecca, and Diane (Bob) Mokri of Kinsman; 4 grandchildren, Melanie McClintock of Brooklyn, NY, Mark McClintock of Salem, Rob Mokri of West Mecca, Amanda Mokri of Triadelphia, WV; 2 great-grandchildren, Salma McClintock Azayi of Brooklyn, NY, Robert Mokri, III of West Mecca; sisters, Virginia Whitacre of Bazetta, Madeline Chronister of Coatesville, PA, Rebecca Chapin of Champion; plus many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Gene; brothers, John Muresan, Aurel Muresan, George Muresan, Peter Muresan; sisters, Aurelia Ross, Mary Spala, Celia McGinty, Georgene Muresan, and Anna Muresan.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment in West Mecca Cemetery along with her late husband Gene.
