Lawrence J. "Pete" Duncan, Sr., 82, of Warren, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at St. Joseph Health Center. He was born August 28, 1929 in Beaver Falls, Pa., the son of Onward and Stella (Boettner) Duncan, and had lived in Trumbull County since 1953.
A Korean War-era veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Duncan worked as a train engineer for Republic Steel, retiring in 1986. A member of Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, he belonged to USWA Local 1375 and the Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are three sons: Lawrence J. (Vicki) of McKinney, Tex., Dale R. of Austintown, and Christopher E. Duncan of Canton; a grandson, Jared (Sarah) Duncan of Tulsa, Okla.; and three great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his wife, Norma Jean (Wurzel) Duncan, whom he married July 4, 1953 and who died November 17, 2009; three sisters; and five brothers.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Vincent officiating. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
