Howland - Lawrence Edward Brown, 67, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at St. Joseph Health Center. He was born May 28, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, to Albert and June (White) Brown.
He was born May 28, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, to Albert and June (White) Brown. He graduated from Livonia Franklin High School in 1964, where he excelled at both basketball and baseball. After high school, Larry was in the Navy from 1967-1972 stationed at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. during his service. At the time of his acceptance into the Naval Intelligence community, Larry was proud to have achieved the highest testing scores in the history of the Naval Intelligence Agency up to that time. After his Navy career, Larry worked in sales and marketing in the steel industry for over 40 years.
When he was not working, Larry enjoyed reading, woodworking, and cheering on his beloved Michigan Wolverines. Respected by all who knew and loved him and considered to be a devoted husband and father, loyal friend and gentle soul, Larry was a truly selfless and principled man who dedicated his life to protecting, supporting and providing for his adoring family.
Larry is survived by and was blessed to have been married to the love of his life and best friend of 42 years, Tana Brown (Karnish); daughters, Amy (Mark) Bischoff of Lewis Center, Ohio, Lani Brown of Berea, Ohio and mother-in-law Irene Karnish of Spring Hill, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and dearly loved father-in-law, John Karnish.
A private memorial service was held to honor the gift of his life and the blessing of the time spent with him.
His family suggest contributions in Lawrence's honor be made to the Animal Welfare League, 545 Brunstetter Rd. S.W., Warren, Ohio, 44481 or the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
