L. Lyle Simons, age 83, of Warren died Monday February 27, 2006 at his residence. He was born May 5, 1922 in Warren, the son the late Ralph and Frances Crouch Simons.
Mr. Simons retired from Second National Bank as senior vice president, where he had worked for 42 years, retiring in 1988. A lifetime Warren resident, Lyle served as a Navy pilot in World War II, was a past member of many civic and community organizations, and had served on the boards of Kenilworth Steel, St. Joseph's Hospital, Packard Music Hall, and others. He was past president of the Warren Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Buckeye Club and the Trumbull Country Club.
Lyle was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed golf (three holes-in-one), surf fishing with his son and daughter-in-law, a good game of gin rummy, and good conversation with friend or stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Brown Simons, whom he married July 19, 1946. Also surviving are Jan Simons of St. Louis, Mo. and Craig and Vicki Simons of Champion; a brother, Lawrence Simons of Warren; and a sister, Marie Phillips of Champion. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilford Simons, and a sister, Doris Benko.
Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, March 3, 2006 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Interment at Champion Township Cemetery will follow. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League, 545 Brunstetter Rd. S.W., Warren, Ohio 44481.
