Kenneth C. Hawkins, 84, of Warren, died 8:30 AM Monday, February 27, 2006 at home. He was born September 19, 1921 in Alliance, the son of Jesse L. and Laura (Kirpatrick) Hawkins, and had lived in the Warren area since 1964.
Ken had been a journeyman machinist for Morgan Engineering in Alliance and Wean Engineering in Warren, retiring from Wean in 1984. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Warren and Alliance, where he spent many years in the church school, and served as an usher and a youth leader. He was an avid bowler and served as an officer in several area bowling leagues. In 2004, he was elected to the Warren Men's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He enjoyed all sports and liked to follow the Indians, Cavaliers, and Browns.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Frances V. (Reese) Hawkins, whom he married April 19, 1942; three children: Timothy L. (Donna) Hawkins of Schaumberg, Ill., Benjamin J. Hawkins of Garrettsville, and Rebecca D. Hawkins (Michael Caso) of Euclid; five grandchildren: Julie (James) Szekely of St. Charles, Ill., Joetta (William) King of Chicago, Ill, Tara L. (Jeffrey) Fritz of Roselle, Ill., Benjamin (Marciane) Hawkins II of Atwater, and Shauna (Robert) Capron of Newton Falls; and four great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Hawkins, Zachary Capron, Karli R. and Nina L. Szekely. Preceding him in death are his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and a great-granddaughter, Allison Frances Jackson.
A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM Friday, March 3, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren, Ohio 44483, with Rev. Burt McGlawn officiating.
