Kathleen M Root

Kathleen M. Root, 81, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Gillette Nursing Home. She was born August 2, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois and was the daughter of Adam and Catherine (Walsh) Germann. Kathleen (Kay) attended Warren Schools. She was a member of the CCL Club and enjoyed bowling, knitting, golfing, sewing, interior decorating and traveling. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Kay was a homemaker and took so much joy in raising her only daughter, Jean. Kay and Jean were on a bowling team together and won the State Tournament in 1979. She was very proud of her daughter and granddaughters. She loved watching her granddaughters grow up. Kathleen was a very strong willed and determined woman and stood up for what she believed in. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her daughter, Jean L. Rupert of Warren; two granddaughters, Shannon (Tom) Popadak of Warren and Megan R. Rupert of Warren; a great granddaughter; Alexis; a sister, Patricia Fox; a brother James; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents and brother, Donald Germann. Friends may call Monday, January 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at McFarland & Son Funeral Home with service immediately following calling hours. Internment will be Tuesday, January 17 at Howland Township Cemetary.
