Katherine Ann "Kathy" Mitrega of Niles passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. in her residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 72.
Mrs. Mitrega was born in Youngstown, OH on March 19, 1943, the daughter of John and Antoinette Borich Cerosky.
She was a 1961 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School.
Kathy retired in 2007 from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield after 27 years as a customer service representative.
She was a devout catholic and member at St. Stephen Church. She was a wonderful cook, and loved dancing. Mrs. Mitrega was an avid Cleveland Cavaliers, Browns, and Indians fan. Earlier in life she was member of various bowling leagues. Kathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who was active and the pillar of her families lives till the very end.
Her husband and love of her life, John H. Mitrega, whom she married July 9, 1966, passed away on Novermber 3, 1993.
Surviving are her 3 sons, John and his wife Maribeth, Joseph Mitrega, and James Mitrega all of Niles; 2 granddaughters, Miranda and Maggie Mitrega.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kathy was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Lesniak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in St. Stephen Church with Rev. Daniel Kulesa.
Internment will take place in St. Stephen Cemetery.
