June L. Wilcox, 83, of Champion, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Hospice House of Poland after a four-month illness. She was born June 25, 1925, in Lockwood, the daughter of Louis A. and Myrtle Carlson Peterson. A graduate of Bazetta High School and Trumbull Business College, she had worked at Johnson Rubber Company.
On September 15, 1946, she married B. Verne Wilcox, who preceded her in death on April 22, 1987. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Evelyn Leach; and a brother, Louis "Bud" Peterson.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry of Lancaster, Pa., Ron (Michelle) of Largo, Fla., and Ray (Dorie) of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; three daughters, Diane (David) Starr of Howland, Marlene and Janine of Champion; four grandchildren, John (Ann) Starr of Aurora, Lesley (Jeff) Hundley of Ann Arbor, Mich., Eric (Karen) Wilcox of Tampa, Fla., and Lee Starr of Arlington, Va.; two step-grandchildren, Samuel and Sarah Sliger of Clarksville, Ga.; and two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Caylin Starr.
She is also survived by two brothers, Harold (Macel) Peterson of Champion, and Nelson (Florence) Peterson of Leavittsburg; and two sisters, Louise (Leland) Grenter of Newton Falls and Elaine (Greg) Ferance of Howland.
Funeral services were held at the North Bloomfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Jody Baker officiating. Interment took place at Champion Township Cemetery.
