Josephine Hendrich Denovchek

SEBRING - Josephine Hendrich Denovchek, 94, formerly of Warren, passed quietly away on October 23, 2013 at Crandall Medical Center. Josephine was born October 10, 1919 in Putnam County, Indiana to the late Charles and Onald (Brackney) Hendrich.

She graduated from Bainbridge High School and received a BS in Business Education from Indiana State University (Terre Haute, Indiana) and an MS in Business Administration from the School of Business, Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana.

She worked as secretary to the State Superintendant of Education in Indianapolis and taught at the School of Business at Indiana University. She was a secondary teacher in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, the last being Warren Western Reserve High School in Warren. After retiring from teaching, Mrs. Denovchek worked as the Financial Secretary of the First United Methodist Church in Warren. She became a fifty-year member of the Warren-Trumbull County Branch of AAUW. She belonged to the Beta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Monday Afternoon Club. She served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Scope. She moved to Copeland Oaks Retirement Center in 1999.

She married John Denovchek on February 10, 1946, who preceded her in death on July 2, 1970.

Their children are James (Carleen) Denovchek of Tucson, AZ and Jane (Michael Harwell) Denovchek of Forest Lake, Minnesota. The grandchildren are Jacob Denovchek, John, Rebecca and Annie Harwell. She is survived by a sister, Chrystal Sisson from Vacaville, CA and sister-in-law, Luella Hendrich of Greencastle, IN.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Clarke and Donavon Hendrich.

Family will receive friends on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 12 - 1:00 pm at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren. The Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Yesudas Devadan officiating. A private burial will be at a later date at Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
