Joseph Riffle, 91, of Lemont, Pa. and formerly of Warren, died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at home. He was born Thursday, February 19, 1914, in Dillonvale, Ohio, the son of the late John and Mary Forsek Riffle.

Mr. Riffle was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and was a WWII veteran, having served with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He had retired from the Warren Police Department and from Riffle Photography, which he owned from 1962 to 2000. He was active with St. Paul's Lutheran Church; the Warren Rotary Club, where he was past-president; the National Photography Association; and several police organizations.

Mr. Riffle is survived by a son, Larry Riffle of Lemont, Pa.; six sisters: Mary Riffle of Warren, Ohio, Victoria Merrifield of New Braunfels, Tex., Ann Baker of Warren, Ohio, Josephine "Peppy" Laakso of North Jackson, Ohio, Pauline Varga of Fredonia, Pa., and Dorothy Williams of Warren, Ohio; and a brother, Rudy Riffle of Vienna, Ohio.

Preceding Mr. Riffle in death are his parents; his first wife, Marjorie Capper Riffle, who died in 1946; his second wife, Ruth E. Heckman Riffle, whom he married February 12, 1949 and who died July 14, 2002; and three brothers: John, Frank, and Charles Riffle.

Services for Mr. Riffle will be 12:00 Noon Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 2860 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44483, with Rev. Steven Ritter officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Tuesday. Masonic services will be held at the church at 10:45 AM Tuesday. Material contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
