Joseph H. Rieger, Jr., 71, of Cortland, OH, died at 9:58 PM, on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at his residence. He was born March 30, 1933, in Hamden, CT, the son of Joseph Rieger, Sr. and Catherine (Kelly) Rieger.
He graduated from Quinnipiac College, later earning his M.B.A. at Bridgeport University, where he was the President of his graduating class. He was a veteran of Korean War serving in the Navy.
He was employed by St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown as a Director of Systems Management and was a member of St. Robert's Church, Cortland.
He enjoyed Civil War and World War II history and was a sports fan, especially Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Cardinals, and fantasy baseball.
He married of Joanna (Lesinsky) Rieger on October 4, 1969 who survives, four sons: Brian (Kelly), of Broadview Heights, OH. Sean, of Houston, TX, Joseph (Karen) of Simsbury, CT, and Robert (Kim) of Trumbull, CT. two daughters: Theresa Rieger of West Haven, CT. and Sharon Rieger of Fairfield, CT. and five grandchildren. One Brother Norman Rieger of Wellingsford, CT.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at St. Robert's Church, Cortland at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM at The McFarland & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Father Carl Kish will officiate and burial will be at All Souls Cemetery, in Cortland, OH.
