Joseph Robert Kovalak

CORTLAND - Joseph Robert Kovalak, 41, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at University Hospital of Cleveland, after a brief illness. He was born on June 10, 1973 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of James Kovalak and his mother, Maryalice (Baustert) Bernard.

Joseph graduated from Harding High School in 1991, and was employed by Sheetz as a Heating and Cooling Technician. He served his country in the Army Reserves for 8 years, was a member of Northeast Christian Church in which he performed many duties, one being the sound technician, sang with his lovely voice, and preformed many other duties. Joseph enjoyed collecting many different things, and loved doing artwork.

Memories of Joseph will be carried on by his mother; Maryalice, grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smeltzer of Warren, brothers; Mr. and Mrs Michael Kovalak of Niles, James Kovalak of Warren, sister; Denise Giaurtis of Farmdale, OH, uncle; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Smeltzer of Niles.

He was preceded in death by his father; James Kovalak.

The family is having a Memorial Service on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 6:00 pm at the Northeast Christian Church, 865 Perkins Jones Rd NE in Warren, 44483, and all family and friends are welcome. Honor Guard, American Legion Post #540, will perform military honors.
