Joseph R. Gulosh, 90, of Champion, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Briarfield at the Ridge in Mineral Ridge. He was born June 18, 1922 in Hostetter, Pa., the son of John and Kathryn (Krivonak) Gulosh, and spent most of his life in Trumbull County, Ohio.
Growing up in Niles, he was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School. During World War II, he served honorably in the U.S. Navy, having been stationed in the South Pacific. He retired from Allied Metals after over thirty years of employment.
As a member of St. William Catholic Church, he gave selflessly of his time for many years, working at church festivals, bingo, building renovation projects, and serving as an usher. He also served as Scout Master and Assistant Scout Master for the church-sponsored Boy Scout Troop 100.
Mr. Gulosh is preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Anne Marie (Lisec) Gulosh; his son, Richard Gulosh; his parents, three brothers; and four sisters.
He is survived by two children, Ronald and Lisa Gulosh, both of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
According to his wishes, there are no services planned. In his memory, the family requests that material contributions be made either to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, 545 Brunstetter Rd. S.W., Warren, Ohio 44481, or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 424 E. 92nd St., New York, N.Y. 10128-6804.
