Jon loved watching professional wrestling and football and was a devoted fan of the Champion Golden Flashes football team, with which he lettered. After graduation, he supported the team and its coaching staff for several years each fall as a team manager and would daily ride his bicycle the 5 miles from his home to the team practices. During the 90's he served as a team manager for the "Youngstown Hot Wheelers", a wheelchair basketball team that competed throughout Ohio and neighboring states. At The Elms, where he lived with his wife, he proved to be a dependable aid to many of his fellow tenants. Jon was a member and served as head usher for many years at his church, First Church of Christ, Scientist in Warren, OH.
