John Yova, 82, of Warren, died 12:01 AM Friday, December 23, 2005 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born February 22, 1923 in Akron, the son of Kostan and Sophie Yova, and had lived in the Warren area since 1948.
John was a graduate of Garfield High School in Akron and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was a journeyman electrician and had worked at Republic Steel, Alcan Aluminum, and other shops in the area before retiring from Packard Electric. He was a member of First Baptist Church, had been a Boy Scout leader, and enjoyed his neighbors, going to the library, and attending church.
John was a devoted husband and father, and will be sadly missed by his wife, Olivia Flora Yova, whom he married March 20, 1948; two sons, Timothy J. (Carol) Yova of Howland, and Steven P. Yova of Durham, N.C. and his friend Frederique Denjean of Lyon, France; five grandchildren: Bryan, Steven, Harvey, and Heidi Berry and Heather Merritt; 13 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Mary Pescan of Akron, Florence Sinea of Bay Village, and Ann (Nick) Flora of Akron.
Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother, Paul Yova.
A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM Friday, December 30, 2005 at First Baptist Church, with Pastor Matthew M. Thomas officiating. Friends may call at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Friday. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the Roof Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, 3217 Surrey Rd. S.E., Warren, Ohio 44484.
