John P. Talkowski, 85, of Howland, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren. He was born August 28, 1921 in Warren, the son of John and Genevieve (Yakiel) Talkowski.
Mr. Talkowski was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and Youngstown State University, and also studied at Brigham Young University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II., and had been a member of VFW Post 1090. He worked in industrial relations at the Ravenna Arsenal for 35 years, retiring in 1985.
Surviving are his wife, Sophia R. (Wolanzyk) Talkowski, whom he married August 23, 1941; a son, Ronald E. (Joyce) Talkowski of Columbus; two grandchildren: Chris Talkowski of Newburgh, N.Y., and Stephanie (Andy) Karas of Hilliard, Ohio; and two sisters: Jeanne Gardlock of Clearwater, Fla., and Bertha Nemet of Newton Falls. Preceding him in death are his parents and a sister, Pauline Mazanetz.
Private services will be held. The family requests that material contributions be made either to Holy Cross Parish, 317 Belmont N.W., Warren, Ohio 44483, or to the donor's favorite charity, in the name of John P. Talkowski.
