John M. Hoostal, 76, of Warren, died February 17, 2010 at home. He was born May 3, 1933 in Warren, the son of Michael and Ann (Stefan) Hoostal, and had lived in the Warren area all his life.
A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Mr. Hoostal served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a tool and die maker at Packard Electric, enjoyed gardening, and going to the YMCA to work out.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah (Stienstra) Hoostal, whom he married September 26, 1959; three sons: Michael (Brenda) of Champion, Brian (Greta) of Warren, and Matthew Hoostal of Findlay; six grandchildren: Calli, John, Aaron, Amber, Kane, and Inga Hoostal; a niece, Joanne (Raymond) Hatosky of Howland; and two nephews: Douglas and Richard Hovanic of Warren. Preceding him in death are his parents and a sister, Ann Hovanic.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in the chapel of Champion Township Cemetery. Interment at Champion Township Cemetery will follow. Friends may come for viewing anytime between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m. Monday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Material contributions may be made to the Ireland Cancer Center, 1353 E.
