John L. Hennessey, 82, of Warren, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born November 1, 1925 in Grant Town, W. Va., the son of Jason Pierce and Mary Elizabeth (Thorn) Hennessey, moving to Trumbull County in 1973.
Mr. Hennessey was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a diesel mechanic for Ohio Fast Freight, retiring in 1976. He had also worked for Thomas Joyland Shows and Getz Auto Service. He was a member of Beacon of Hope Baptist Church, and enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, and working at the church.
Surviving are his children: Garry L. (Naomi) Hennessey of Warren, Sherry A. Carpenter of Somerset, Ky., John E. (Cindy) Hennessey of North Bloomfield, and Mark S. Hennessey of Girard; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Beatty of Canton. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Evelyn P. (Hinton) Hennessey, whom he married May 6, 1953 and who died February 21, 2001; a son, Perry Alvin Hennessey; two sisters; and three brothers.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Beacon of Hope Baptist Church, with his son, Rev. Garry Hennessey, the church's pastor, officiating. Interment will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont, W. Va. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Material contributions may be made to Beacon of Hope Baptist Church, 3559 N.
