John David, 91, of Warren, died at home Tuesday, August 14, 2007. He was born March 29, 1916 in Connersville, Ohio, the son of Wasil and Eva (Kowalyk) David.
Mr. David attended Warren G. Harding High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of Private First Class. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Silver Star, and took part in the Normandy Invasion. He had worked at Youngstown Kitchens, Mullins Manufacturing, and the Wean Corporation. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and previously had belonged to the YMCA.
Surviving are his wife, Ann K. (Knapic) David, whom he married June 14, 1941; three sons: Theodore George "Ted" (Lou Ann) David of Cortland, Fred David of Ennis, Montana, and Michael Gregory David of Warren; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank (Vivian) David of Gahanna, Ohio; and two sisters: Ann Barna of Northfield, Ohio, and Rose (Henry) Beben of Warren. Preceding him in death are his parents and a sister, Mary Orfin.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2007 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Robert Karl officiating. At Mr. David's request, cremation will follow. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Material contributions may be made to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 180 Belvedere N.E., Warren, Ohio 44483.
