John R. Brown, Sr.

WARREN, OHIO - John R. Brown, Sr., 77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Hospice House in Poland. John was born on September 11, 1935 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, as a United States citizen the son of the late Charles and Emma (Burquist) Brown.

John retired from Thomas Steel Strip Corp. as a General Foreman in 1986. After his retirement he incorporated American Shaped Wire in Youngstown and served as President. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and attending Mahoning Valley Scrappers games. He was a member of the Early Jazz Society and the Thomas Steel Strip Retirees.

Memories will be carried on by his sons, John (Carla) Brown, Jr. of Warren, Jeff (Mary) Brown of Niles; brother, Charles Brown, Jr. of Morehead City, NC; and grandchildren, George, John, Justin, and Caitlyn. John is also survived by his special friend Shirley Capparell of Warren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole (Rochford) Brown, whom he married October 22, 1956 and passed away on March 13, 2007; He is also preceded in death by his sons Bryan and Benjamin and daughters Cindy and Angel.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren, and again 1 hour prior to the 1:00 pm funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday. The Rev. Steven Brown will officiate. Services of final committal and internment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
