John Boldan, 90, of Warren, died Monday, November 9, 2009 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. He was born December 8, 1918 in Warren, the son of John and Mary (Popovich) Boldan, and had lived in Trumbull County all his life.
Mr. Boldan served during World War II as a U.S. Army Ranger, rising to the rank of master sergeant. A machine operator for Wean United, he enjoyed collecting guns and stamps, fixing cars, and was a lifetime member of the York Barbell Club. An award-winning photographer, he was an avid fan of John F. Kennedy High School sports and was known for his photography at JFK athletic events.
Surviving are his son, Dr. John D. Boldan, Sr. of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; two grandsons: Dr. John D. Boldan, Jr. and his fiance, Cindy Hess, of Mt. Pleasant, Tex., and Atty. Eric M. Boldan and his friend, Christine Hoso, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; his companion, Rose Limber of Warren; Rose's children: Dorothea (Sam) Marino, Jeff (Sandy) Limber, and Timothy (Sue) Vajda; and Rose's grandchildren: Samantha Marino, McKenzie Marino, and Timothy Vajda. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Lida (Barnabo) Boldan, who died January 25, 1991; a sister, Mary Chandler; and a brother, George Boldan.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 232 Seneca N.E., Warren, Ohio 44481, with Fr. Bernard Schmalzried officiating. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home.
