John A. Bartholomew

John A. Bartholomew, Jr., 82, of Kinsman, died 11:10 AM Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at UPMC Horizon in Greenville, Pa. He was born Tuesday, August 29, 1922 in Youngstown, the son of the late John A., Sr. and Della May Means Bartholomew, and had lived in the area his entire life.

John served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He had retired as a crane operator from Copperweld Steel. He attended Burghill Baptist Church and enjoyed golf, fishing, camping, farming, reading, and travelling. The past few years, he and Sheila made their home both in England and in Trumbull County.
John is survived by his wife, Sheila Humphrey Bartholomew, whom he married April 30, 1994; eight children: Cathy Bates of Vienna, Janie Banning of Farmdale, Deborah Lenyo and Paula (Daniel) Hall, both of Kinsman, Cindy (Anthony) Mistak of Navarre, Ohio, Sandra (Barry) Durrant, Sonya (Aidan) Ward, and Kelvin (Tanya) Sturman, all of England; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Della Hake of California and Arlene Morgan of Conneautville, Pa.; and three brothers: Charles Bartholomew of Howland, Richard Bartholomew of Bristolville, and Tom Bartholomew of Warren.

Preceding John in death are his parents; his first wife, Mary May Emch Bartholomew, who died January 28, 1994; two children: John A. Bartholomew III and Sandra Lu Bartholomew; a sister, Mary Jane Rhodes; and a brother, Harry Bartholomew.

Services for John will be 3:00 PM Friday, May 20, 2005 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, 271 North Park Avenue, Warren, Ohio 44481, with Rev. Glenn Wadlington of Burghill Baptist Church officiating. Family and close friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Friday. Material contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
