Jeanne F. Zella

Jeanne F. "J.J." Zella, 78, of Warren, died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at St. Joseph Health Center. She was born October 22, 1929 in Newport, R. I., the daughter of Marvin W. and Beatrice F. Atchison.

Mrs. Zella grew up in Cape Cod, Mass. and attended school in Bourne, Mass. Her mother was leader of the first girl scout troop on the Cape, and Jeanne was a member of that troop. She worked in the office and as a counselor at the Youngstown Rescue Mission for many years. She was a Daughter of the Revolution and the Mayflower, and a member of Warren Revival Center, where she taught primary and nursery Sunday School classes. She enjoyed crocheting, spending time at the ocean, and doing volunteer work.

Surviving are her nine children: Bonnie and Linda Wing of Boston, Mass., Robert Wing of Wisconsin, David Bananzzi of Las Vegas, Nev., Darlene S. Nafe of Newton Falls, Darell S. Schlegel of Leesburg, Fla., Dawn S. Kennedy of Louden, Pa., Debbie S. Hodges of Durham, N.C., and Deidre S. Herring of Campbell; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, Frank Atchison of Boston. Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister, Jackie Fijis.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2008 at Warren Revival Center, with Rev. James Holbrook officiating. Friends may call 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Two Scripture passages were a foundation for Jeanne's life: Psalm 90:12 - "So teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom"; and 2 Timothy 4:7 - "I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith."
