James Farrell

James Y. Farrell, age 76, of Cortland, Ohio, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital-Forum Center in Warren, Ohio.

He was born on July 14, 1927 in Warren, Ohio to the late James and Ada Mae (Solomon) Farrell. He had been a resident of Warren all his life. On August 20, 1949, he married Dorothy Kimpel. In 1950, he graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.

Mr. Farrell enlisted into the Navy on April 12, 1945, serving as a Seaman First Class during World War II, and receiving an honorable discharge on July 12, 1946.

Mr. Farrell retired from the American Welding Company in sales, then went on to work for Century 21 as a salesman. He was a member of the North Mar Church of the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Warren, and also a member of the Warren Exchange Club.

Besides his parents, Mr. Farrell is preceded in death by two sons: David Young Farrell and James Roy Farrell; his brother Jack Farrell; and a sister, Virginia Farrell.

Besides his wife, Mr. Farrell is survived by four children: Nancy (George) Petak of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Audrey Taylor of Warren, Ohio, Trish (Brian) Landsman of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Barbara (Jim) Thomas of Westerville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Darlene Farrell.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2003 at 12 Noon at the North Mar Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, with Rev. John Temple officiating. Friends may also call at the church from 10:30 AM to 12 Noon Thursday. Private inurnment services, led by Rev. Robert Long, will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
