James F. Carr, Jr., 73, of Warren, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at home. He was born July 7, 1938 in Bolindale, the son of James F. and Freda Velma (Neiman) Carr, Sr., and had lived in Trumbull County all his life.
A graduate of Fowler High School, Mr. Carr served with both the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Ohio Lamp for ten years and retired from General Motors, Lordstown, where he had been a union official in the 1970s and trained people in the safety and material departments. A member of the National Rifle Association and Fowler United Methodist Church, he also attended Pleasant Valley Church and was a coach and supporter of the Fowler Baseball Association. He enjoyed guns, reading, airplanes, cars, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Denise (Keith) Rising of Warren and Tracie (Jack) Plummer of North Plains, Ore.; five grandchildren: Alexandra, Melissa, Kelsey, James, and Sydney; his former wife, Virginia Jensen Carr of Fowler; a sister, Lois Burnett of Brookfield; two brothers, Jack Carr, his twin, of Mecca and Richard Carr of Akron; a brother-in-law, Jack Nagy of Florida; many nieces and nephews; his good friends and neighbors at Westwood Lake Park; and his very special caregiver, Bonnie. Preceding him in death are a son, James F. Carr III; and two sisters, Mary Dodrill and Patricia Nagy.
Mr. Carr's life will be celebrated with a service at 12:00 noon Monday, April 16, 2012 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Vincent of Tod Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Dugan Cemetery in Fowler Township. Friends may call 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Monday at the funeral home.
