James "Jim" H. Bock

Howland Twp. - James H. Bock, 88, passed away at his residence February 10, 2014. He was born on June 12, 1925 and the beloved son of the late Harry and Adelaide Rose Bock.

Jim was a 1943 graduate of Warren G. Harding and joined the Navy after graduation. He served for 4 1/2 years of which 3 1/2 of those years he served on submarine duty on the USS Corporal during WWII. He achieved the rank of Radioman Second Class.

After the war he came home and joined his father and brother in the family business Bock Transfer & Storage and retired after 47 years. Jim enjoyed golf, fishing, traveling, and doing needlepoint. He was a lifetime member and past president of the Warren Buckeye Club where he enjoyed playing Gin with his many friends. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Trumbull Country Club, the Ohio Movers Assoc, and the Ohio Warehouseman's Assoc. He served many years on the board of directors of the 1st Federal Savings and Loan Co.

Memories of Jim will be carried on by his devoted loving wife Donna Inman Bock whom he married in 1972; daughter, Sharon Rodgers of Cortland, and son, Kevin C. Bock, daughter-in-law's, Susan Bock of Cortland and Bonnie Bock of Champion; grandchildren; Kristin (Kaz) Unalan, Eric (MeLinda) Stear, and Heather Bock. Also Brian (Sarah) Rudd, Michael (Beth) Rudd, and Matthew (Nicole) Rudd, and seven great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his brother and partner in business, Robert E. Bock, and his son James H Bock, Jr., past president of Bock Transfer and Storage.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church, with Rev. Glenn Hamilton officiating. Jim's family will receive friends from 9:30 am till time of services at the church on Saturday. The NE Ohio Submarine Veterans and the American Legion Lake Milton Post 737 will present military honors following the service. Private family committal services will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren.
