WARREN - James N. Banks, 87, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at St. Joseph's Health Center. He was born on August 27, 1926 in Lucas, Ohio, the son of the late John and Ruth (Zediker) Banks.

He attended Ohio State University until he was inducted into the US Navy during War II.

Jim had worked as a yard engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad in the early 1950's and then as a traffic controller for Sharon Steel until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and was the head usher for over 50 years. He liked to raise and show Dalmatians under the name of "Wade Inn Dalmatians" and was a steward for various dog shows.

He has also worked for McFarland and Son Funeral Home for over 30 years as a funeral associate.

Memories of James will be carried on by daughter, Marcia Christy of Warren; son, John Banks of Seneca, SC; grandchild, Jessica (Douglas) Hipple of Howland; grandchild, Catherine Rodgers of Warren; grandchild, Brook Banks of Seneca, SC; grandchild, Lindsey (Chris) Hesson of Kirkland; grandchild, Kimberley (Jason) Tipton of Streetsboro; 7 great-grandchildren, plus many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Martha (Wade) Banks, whom he married November 5, 1955 and passed away May 1, 2004.

Family will receive friends Friday, December 13, 2013 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at McFarland and Son Funeral Home in Warren. Services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church with calling hours one hour prior to the service with the Rev. J. Jeffrey Baker officiating. Military Honors will be presented following the service by the American Legion Post #540 Honor Guard. Final committal will be in the church columbarium.
