Jack Lee Smeltzer

Jack Lee Smeltzer, 84, of Bazetta Twp. OH, passed away on July 13, 2012 at his residence. He was born on October 17, 1927 to Oliver and Elma (Shellhammer) Smeltzer both of Warren, OH.

He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding, attended Kent State University, and served in the Marine Corp during the Korean War. Jack worked for Muirs Grocery store, and Mullees, and, at the age of 15 started working for Peoples Ice and Supply delivering ice and coal, he also drove a truck for Modern Laundry, worked at Falls Printing, Cox Lithograph, Wean Manufacturing, and drove for Pine Industries all during his working career.
Throughout life Jack enjoyed life, including bowling, farming, dancing, playing cards and get-togethers with family and friends. With his wife on their small farm, together, they enjoyed family, especially their grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his loving spouse, the former Naomi "Dolly" Sharps and, daughters; Janet Haviland of Canton, Darlene Naples of Cortland and sons; Robert H. Smeltzer of South Carolina and, Gary Smeltzer of Warren, grandchildren; Lee and Lynne Bonser, Megan Haviland, Tiffany, Timothy, Jedediah & Jeffrey Naples, Kristen, Cody, Amber, Derek, & Kaitlyn Smeltzer. Jack also has a sister, Dorothy McGee of Parker, AZ. and a brother; Robert E. Smeltzer, of Warren. He also had 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 10:00 am to 11:00 am at The McFarland & Son Funeral Services Company, Warren, OH. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11:00 am at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Precession for a graveside committal service and military honors will follow with burial taking place in the Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, OH.
