Irma A. Fye, (nee Henderson) long-time resident of Warren, Ohio, passed away March 12 at the home of her daughter Patricia Peirolo in Dayton, Ohio surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Fye moved to Warren in 1948 with her husband, Charles who preceded her in death. They were very active in the Warren community, St. Mary Church and School for many years before retiring to New Port Richey, Florida.
While residing in Warren, Mrs. Fye was an active participant in the many activities at St. Mary School where her eleven children attended. Irma utilized her artistic talent and gave countless hours of her time to help with set design and costuming for Fiddlesticks, as well as serving on committees for proms, bazaars and other fund raising events. She also volunteered in the Theatre Department at the Kent State Trumbull Campus.
In addition to raising her children, she and her husband served as foster parents. For many years, Irma was a crisis counselor for young women. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and St Joseph's Hospital Guild. Irma worked at the library at the Bazetta Elementary School and the Kent State Trumbull Campus. She later used these skills and volunteered to establish the library at St.Vincent De Paul parish in New Port Richey, FL.
Mrs. Fye is survived by her children Charles (Hedy), Avon Lake, Ohio, Patricia (Carl) Peirolo, John (Diane) Tampa, Florida, Mary Lou (Paul) Forrest, Gatlinburg, TN, Barbara (Dick) Leurig, Gaithersburg, MD, Kathryn (Arthur) Newell, Richmond, VA, Michael (Sharon, Brookeville, FL, David (Lynda) , Willoughby, OH, and Marge (Dennis) Cook, James (Dawna) and Thomas (Mary Lou) all of Warren; twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters Kay Prillaman, Thelma Walton, Mary Jane Roche, Dorothy Wisniewski, June Jessup, and Patricia Nadolski; and brother James. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband Charles Fye; three brothers and three sisters.
Services for Mrs. Fye will be 10:00 AM Thursday, March 16, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 232 Seneca N.E., Warren, Ohio 44481, with Fr. Bernard Schmalzried officiating. Inurnment will be Friday at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery in Marion, Ohio. Friends may call 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 AM Thursday, before the procession to the church. Memorial contributions may be made either to St. Vincent de Paul, Council of the United States, 58 Progress Parkway, St. Louis, Mo. 63043-3706, or to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
