Howard F. Wilcox, 79, of Warren, died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at home, in the very room where, on February 8, 1927, he had been born to Merle T. and Ethel (Varley) Wilcox.
Mr. Wilcox was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and served in the U.S. Army. He had worked as a coil winder for Peerless Winsmith, retiring in 1989 after 43 years of employment. He was a member of Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, and had been a leader in Boy Scout Troop 9 for over 25 years. He was also a Boy Scout merit badge counselor and a Red Cross First Aid Instructor.
Surviving are his wife, Beatrice L. (Murray) Wilcox, whom he married January 14, 1949; a son, Herbert C. (Carol) Wilcox of Ottawa, Ill.; and three grandchildren: Amy E., Adam M., and Angela K. Wilcox. His parents precede him in death.
Services are 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Anita Rayburn of Tod Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park. Friends may call 3:00 to 5:00 PM Tuesday and 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
