Hilda H. Berwald

Hilda H. Berwald, 95, of Bristolville, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at home. She was born Friday, January 1, 1909 in Leek, Staffordshire, England, the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Ann Hudson Brockhurst.

Mrs. Berwald had been a buyer for Carlisle-Allen Department Store in Ashtabula. She had belonged to West Farmington United Methodist Church, West Farmington Senior Citizens Center, Women's Relief Corps of West Farmington, and the Women's Club of Ashtabula. She enjoyed bird watching, reading, concerts, dancing, and her family.

Surviving Mrs. Berwald are two sons: B. Brian (Joy Jones) Berwald of Nacogdoches, Texas and John H. (Maggie) Berwald of Bristolville; four grandchildren: Cathy (Hieu) Vu-Gia of Vienna, Virginia, Christine (Steve) Miller of Westfield, New Jersey, Bradley John Berwald of Levittown, Pennsylvania, and Kevin Bernard Berwald of Bristolville; and three great-grandchildren: Nina Vu-Gia, and Lindsay and Jenna Miller.

Preceding Mrs. Berwald in death are her parents and her husband, Bernard Berwald, whom she married August 21, 1937 and who died August 21, 1996.

Services for Mrs. Berwald will be 12:00 Noon Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at McFarland and Son Funeral Home, 271 North Park Avenue, Warren, Ohio 44481, with Rev. Paula Marbury of West Farmington United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Sager Cemetery in Bristolville. Friends may call at the funeral home 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday and 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Wednesday. Material contributions may be made to the West Farmington United Methodist Church, 220 College, West Farmington, Ohio 44491.
