Helen M. Spodnik

Helen M. Spodnik, 94, of Cortland, Ohio, died 5:38 AM Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio . She was born June 7, 1911 in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of Joseph and Anna Mudrik Kraynak, and came to the Warren area in 1981 from Stratford, Conn.

Helen attended St. Robert's Catholic Church and was an active member of Scope. She was very skilled in crochet and painting, and was an avid reader.

Helen is survived by a daughter, Joanna Rieger of Cortland; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husbands, Joseph Lesinsky, who died in 1949, and
Stephen Spodnik, who died in 1969; a son, Joseph Lesinsky; three brothers: Joseph, Stephen, and John Kraynak; and three sisters: Mary Adzima, Pauline Kochiss, and Anna Plavnicky.

Services for Helen will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at St. Robert's Catholic Church, 4659 Niles Cortland Rd. N.E., Cortland, Ohio 44410, with Fr. Carl Kish officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday. Interment will be 11:00 AM Friday at St. John's Cemetery in Stratford, Conn., with Msgr. Schultz of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to St. Robert's Catholic Church.
