Helen Louise McBane, 75, of Cortland, died at home surrounded by her family Sunday, August 21, 2005. She was born November 23, 1929 in Warren, the daughter of Lawrence and Julia Stelmah.
A lifetime resident of the Warren area, Helen worked for the City of Warren, Trumbull County, and the Board of Elections. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Warren. She was active as a volunteer with the National Packard Museum, and previously was active with the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Volunteer Program in the gift shop, and with Meals on Wheels. She was a homemaker, party planner, decorator, and avid bridge player.
She is survived by her six children: Michael (Joann) McBane of Cazenovia, N.Y., Terry (Peggy) McBane of Howland, Erin (David) Peppel of Cortland, N.Y., Heather McBane of Warren, Patrick (Leslie) McBane of Youngstown, and Sean (Tina) McBane of Warren; and by her twelve grandchildren: Hillary (Ken), Natalie, Jennifer, Robert, Emily, Allison, Christopher, Gregory, Geoffrey, Korey, and Katie, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert L. McBane, who passed away in November, 2004.
A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Rick Oaks of First United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday. Material contributions may be made either to First United Methodist Church, 309 North Park Avenue, Warren, Ohio 44481, or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
