Helen J. Adgate, 76, of Howland, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at home. She was born March 1, 1935 in Morgantown, W. Va., the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Komaromi) Markovich, and had lived in Northeast Ohio most of her life.
A graduate of Rayen High School and Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Mrs. Adgate retired as a registered nurse from St. Joseph Hospital in 1997, and also worked at the family business, Charles Adgate Florist in Howland. She was a member of Howland Community Church; Morning Light Chapter #80, Order of the Eastern Star; Trinity White Shrine; and Ali Baba Cauldron.
Surviving are her husband, Charles L. Adgate, Sr.; two children: Charles L. (Dawn) Adgate, Jr. of Howland and Cynthia (Michael) Strang of New River, Ariz.; five granddaughters: Jordan, Emma, and Haylee Adgate, and Paige and Meghan Strang; and one grandson, Michael Strang. Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother, Joseph "Richard" Markovich.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Brian Byrne officiating. Interment will follow at Howland Township Cemetery. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
