Harry R. Frohlich, 93, formerly of Warren, died peacefully Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Windsor House of Champion after an extended illness. He was born December 4, 1914 in West Salem Township, Mercer County, Pa. the son of German immigrants Samuel and Anna May (Klose) Frohlich.
Harry was a 1932 graduate of Hickory (Pa.) High School, and lived in Warren, Ohio most of his life with his wife of 44 years, Ruth (Jacobs) Frohlich, whom he married August 21, 1937. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a rifle expert and carbine sharpshooter. During the war, he received the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon.
He was one of the first employees hired at Copperweld Steel, where he retired in 1974 after 35 years of service. A master gardener, he was also very adept at judo, basketball, baseball, and, in later years, shuffleboard. A world traveler who went on many tours, he was a 32nd degree Mason and a past Grand Master of the Carroll F. Clapp Lodge #655, F. & A.M. and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in Youngstown.
Surviving are his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife; three sisters: Anna Bland, Kathryn Tate, and Helen Tracy; and three brothers: William, Samuel, and Edward Frohlich.
Masonic services led by Carroll F. Clapp Lodge #655, F. & A.M. will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31 in the chapel at Pineview Memorial Park, 4049 Youngstown Rd. S.E., Warren, Ohio 44484.
