Harold G. Friend

WARREN - Harold G. Friend, 79, passed peacefully away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at his residence. He was born on January 6, 1935 in Swanton, MD, the son of the Leslie and Dorothy (Rhodes) Friend.

Harold was employed by WCI Steel for 40 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Braceville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed going to flea markets, auctions and traveling.

Memories of Harold will be carried on by his wife, Margaret (Beckman) Friend, whom he married May 3, 1964; daughter-in-law, Mary Koehler Friend of Andover; grandchildren: Luke Friend of North Jackson, Dan and Heidi Friend, both of Andover, and sister, Dorothy (Melvin) Beckman of Swanton, MD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randall Allen Friend in 2007, and daughter, Carolyn Yvonne Friend in 1991.

Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at McFarland and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Joan Purnell officiating. The family will receive friends one prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Swanton, MD. at a later date.
